About Hawk’s Place

Hawk’s Place is about an engaging intrigue of diversity in an effort to amend one’s ways!
It is about life from this Hawk’s perspective. The eyesight of a hawk is eight times greater than humans and they soar at very high altitudes. Hence, my views on things tend to be a little different than most people because of the varying heights with where I have flown, bearing witness to a multitude of experiences.
Expressing my thoughts is unfamiliar territory, so this process of sharing my experience, perspective, and viewpoints on a diversity of subjects will be a personal challenge. Writing is one of those things I’m working on. You see, hawks have four ‘talons’ - three front and one back. This makes keyboarding and grasping a writing utensil somewhat difficult - not so easy for this raptor.
Regarding matters of a more srys nature, I will strive to be deliberate minded when appropriate. Other stuff will be things I just find humorous, damn stupid, or just daily thoughts that may be good, bad or even ugly! At times my posts may be from other sources which I will properly reference or plagiarize. Also, there may be a periodic infusion of stories heard tell by what family I do have, friends, and others with whom I have encountered over the years.
Kui aratemeru is Japanese which means: “To amend one’s ways.” On some level, this site was created for this very reason. How you may interpret this remains up to you.
It is my hope you enjoy landing here. Perhaps you will laugh a bit or may even chuckle. Moreover, you may find some new found perspective on something which makes you stop, scratch your head and say to yourself . . . “hmmm!”
Be forewarned, I do have the tendency for not being politically correct. Some that know me illustrate me as being somewhat aggressive and way-out there on occasion. What do they know? Not much . . .
While developing this web-log, the following subjects were just an assortment of things which crossed my mind during recent weeks. The list itself is not really significant, it is simply an assortment of topics which may be interesting to write about when I have the opportunity to share. Accordingly, I offer you my not so ordered list:
Life, Kona coffee, children, friends, spooks & who knows what, Tao, children, cigars & cigarettes, Sun Tsu, mountains, H2H, parenting, health & fitness, mojo, Napoli, hot showers, Venezuela, foreign exchange, Savannah, shooting craps and shooting in general, GRITS - Girls Raised In The South, voodoo, kayaking, Lao Tzu, honor, deserts, drinking, Tucson, combative concepts, New Orleans, jokes & stupid everyday humor, hunting, Costa Rica, Morocco, rivers, Memphis, jasmine, money, San Diego, current events, thunderstorms, Hong Kong, latin music, Japanese culture and history, motorcycles, kahlua , the coast, Asia, people I admire, meditative, Vancouver, music and literature, Ontario, war & conflict, freedom, birds of prey, mountain lakes, death, eastern philosophy, faith, maybe religion and whatever else that may be running through my mind at any given moment, and much more…
There it is! An incomplete list of random subjects.
Hawk’s Place is a ‘free fly-zone’ and all are welcome to touchdown at this LZ.
If you care to offer your own commentary or share a personal viewpoint, feel free to write whatever moves your spirit. Rest assured, I do not readily bruise, so have at it as you will.
The thermals are always good in this area for soaring whenever you feel the compelling need to spread your wings!

PHOTOGRAPHY NOTE:
I would like to thank Geoff Coleman, who resides in Australia for allowing me to use some of his stunning artwork. His work appears on each page of this site for your viewing pleasure. Please take a moment to visit his Flickr page linked on the Blogroll. If you wouldn’t mind, take a minute and leave him a note that you stopped by for a visit and be sure to tell him Hawk sent you!

You do have a lot of things on your mind man. That’s cool I hope to keep up with your blog. I have a lot of stuff on my mind too. I’m quite the philosophical person. I’m overly serious and I over analyze things too; perhaps to my downfall. I just started a blog today because of some crazy shit that’s gone down in the past few days. It appears rather negative right now I suppose, however for the record I love life, and the blog will have many random things; rantings and ravings, hilarities and things of peculiarity. I’d appreciate it if you’d check it out because I myself need some feedback. http://www.blhuco.wordpress.com
Peace.
P.S. I really like the music on this page. I used to play the piano myself.
you have a beautiful blog here, though a little sad…
Engaging can mean something that is attracting, that is delighting. It draws you in and holds your attention….this is a great introduction to a blog that I find engaging, funny, serious, and thought-provoking.
Thanks for letting me soar while I was here at the nest
Chantal, merci! Thank you for the good words. It pleases me much to know you enjoy flying over the nest. It remains a challenging work of progress. I wanted to mention how much I enjoy your writing. It is smart and snappy. Refreshing like a gentle May shower. I don’t particularly care to read too many women’s blogs, but I have made a number of exceptions as you can see from my blogroll. Why this is so, remains a mystery even unto me!
I am reminded of a quote which I can not remember its source. It is either Chinese or Japanese and it goes something like this. “Affinity is a mysterious thing, but it is spicy!”
As always, I enjoy your active engagement and contributions on this site. Anytime you feel moved by the spirit of the wind to spread your wings, you know you can always soar by and land!

Merci, Hawk….I’m flattered that you enjoy reading what I write. It’s always interesting to meet someone who has a unique style and who approaches the creative process of writing in a way different from oneself. The natural attraction we’ve had to each other’s blog may be mysterious, but will serve us well in the continuing development of our respective writing passions. So bring on the coriander, the curry, the paprika & the pepper!
A bientôt…
Hi Hawk, regarding the Digg theme question you left on my blog.
Yes I believe black’s possible but only after you purchase the CSS edit option.
The default colours for that theme can’t be changed unfortunately, just the header image. Hope this helps, thanks for visiting.
This Blog interests me, and I’ll definately be back when I get more time
I’ve been meaning to stop in for a few days, and this seemed as good a place as any to write my name on the wall!
I find it so fascinating that you identify so strongly with raptors, or maybe I mean that you found such a good “mirror animal” (making that up) to give us all a better visual of your perspective.
Eh, whatever, I like it!
Wow, this is one extremely cool blog. I love it.
