Kickin’ back and relaxing to some tunes while peering at the world from under the brim of my hat - Zzzzzzzzzzzzz!

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

  1. Hey! Chillin? sounds like a great idea, but i want the sun and salsa that goes with the music, not the ice and mud in my world!
I am dreaming of white sand and blue water…sigh…

  2. I’m with Sorrow! ’nuff of the ice, unless it is in my mojito!

    Happy Quirky Alone Day! :D

  3. (((((Sorrow & Deb)))))), maybe I could bottle some warm sunshine in a mason jar and send it your way. But I won’t send you any Pace Salsa because it’s made in New Jersey. That’s not what I call real salsa. Let’s all have a mojito! One of my favorites. Here’s mud in your eye.

  4. This is beautifuly said, I could add, but you said it all. Anna :)

  5. Oh HELL yeah!! I’m just getting started!

    I’ll toast you tonight. :)

  6. Anna, these are interesting words for sure. Thanks for the fly by.

    ~
Gypsy Lady, LOL! OH! HELL YEAH! Love it! Love it! Love it!

    Here’s lookin’ at you!

  7. Have a great weekend, Hawk. It was nice of you to come by and laugh at my post. I hope you’ll do one like it. :)

  8. Fighting Windmills, it was a very good post. You have a grand weekend yourself!

  9. Love the songs and the picture. Kind of reminds me of my little visit out west last year. Oh, to be free to lay like a log, on a log, listen to a little lovin’ music and snooze the day away!
I’m with ya, Hawkman. It sounds really good right about now.
Here’s to dreamin’ and that peaceful, easy feelin’! ;)

  10. Like the quote and look forward to some spring weather. It’s been too dark, gloomy and messy here, what with melting snow, freezing and unfreezing, pot holes galore and more cold weather. Not to mention river flooding.

    Cheers!

  11. Sup Hawk. I like the quote. Change is hard when you’re comfortable. But there will be a point when it won’t be and you’ll have to make a decision to change. I’ve been down that road before :)

  12. I’m not good with change. I’ll admit it. I like the comfort of routine. Although I wouldn’t mind scheduling a little time for adventure now and then. Scheduling adventure… do I sound pathetic or what?!

  13. I’ll tell ya this, The biggest advances in my life came about from change. Most, if not all, were half or wholly intentional on my/our part. Oddly I have most of what I want now so might start resisting change in those areas. Best way for me to offset that will be to find change in new ways as of yet unexplored. Skoal.

  14. Hey Hawk, I just flied by, but I noticed still chilling, lol. Anna :)

  15. Jazmine, that P.E.F. you refer is something I’m going to have one of these days.

    ~
Java Man, good to see you. Some weather change would be nice. I’m ready for some snow.

    ~
Rolando, change is inevitable. The bigger question is how well we individually deal with the change. It is a good quote.

    ~
AntiBarbie, adventure is good. And, No! You don’t sound pathetic. I believe that everyone secretly wants change on some level. Some type of adventure or experience that moves them from a place of mundane routine. Then again, I could be wrong.

    ~
Polar, I’m the same as you with the biggest advances in my came about as the result of change. As a matter of fact, at this very point in time, I’m undergoing some new changes. Skoal!

    ~
Anna, yup! I’m still chillin’. Waiting for something to change, LOL!

Thank you all for stopping by. My regrets to you all with being somewhat dilatory in responding. I’ve been severely under the weather lately.

We’ll catch you on a return flight.

  16. Hey Hawkman….that’s a great quote. I understand how security & conformity can crush passion and spirit. I can see how knowing your future is secure limits you in what you strive for. But having some security that serves as an anchor opens up your passions and gives your spirit a wider place to roam. I would think it would be difficult for a person who has no security to be able to surrender his or her spirit to adventure. Maybe the security isn’t in the future, but in owning the present.

Hope your chillin’ time brings peace and health…..

  17. Chantal, you make some valid points. I think the quote is more about the spirit of the words than a true literal translation. Always good to see you stop by for a visit. It seems like forever and month of Sundays since you have graced my haunt with your presence.

The chillin’ time is bringing some new awareness with some things which has lacked some clarity. Other matters are still being muddled through which is power for the natural course and experience of daily life. With that said I bid you a grand evening and prosperous days ahead. I trust this finds you and your children with peach and health in your daily walk too . . .

  18. Did I read in your response that you have been under the weather…if so that just sucks!

You have to get better I can’t be the lone smart ass out here in blog land..it is simply too much responsibiliy!

Sending you healing energies. Tomorrow when I light my candles “Hawk” will be among the names I meniton.

  19. hi hawk! while i like the quote, i have issues with general sweeping comments like this one. what if some folks just can’t see…what if they never wake up to their ‘dreamless’ state…is it therefore a conscious act of staying unhappy, or just a real inability to see a shaft of light leading to a different horizon?

i’ve been quiet too…at least in the bloghood. my head is reeling with thoughts of changes and whatnot, but i just can’t seem to put it into a consise enough order to actualy write about it…which is infuriating, because if i could, i think i’d be able to come to a conclusion! augh!

    peace and sunny soaring,
    Lil

  20. Gypsy-Heart, you may find comfort in the assurance that you and me are not the only smart asses in blog land. Though, I must say, I’m probably at the top of the list of SA’s at the moment considering some recent journeys to other sites. I appreciate the healing energy and the thoughtfulness of the lit candle. Lord only knows I need it and then some! Thanks…

    ~
Lil, good to see you. I’m not sure to what you refer regarding “general sweeping comments?” The quote; something I replied on or someone else’s commentary? I’m not sure!? In any event, if you refer to the quote, my interpretation is more in the spirit of the author’s expression, compared to a literal translation.

Remaining in a ‘dreamless’ state…’ is not such a good thing.

I think a good many people are backing off some from blogging. I’m with you, if I could just put into a concise enough order to write about, I may have something to say. At the moment, I’m too inclined.

Peace to you and your family. I’ll be around soon.

    Hawk, Out!

  21. Hello Hawk,I totally agree with this quote..I am of the impression that living a routine existence kills the spirit and leaves the soul eventually tired out from wondering about all those dreams that were never followed.I pity people who sit in a situation simply because it feels comfortable, and they are too afraid to stand up and see what life has to offer. The word ‘comfortable’ is a joke as well, for a huge many people on this earth will never have that luxury.I am not saying one should throw caution to the wind and act irresponsibly…no way,but I do believe in allowing oneself some of the simple and beautiful pleasures of life..its so short, lol,we must make the best of it.I love the picture..is it you,Hawk??Glad to hear that you are feeling better, hope all is well with your family as well.
ps..by the strangest co-incidence I just posted something on my blog that is a bit similar to your thoughts here…I solemnly swear I never read this before I posted mine !!!!! :)))
    have fun Hawk, keep soaring..

  22. Jesse, I was just checking Emails and saw your comment, so I couldn’t resist from replying. I love your insightful comment. There is serious doubt whether I could have expressed my thoughts as well as you have in your commentary. So, I will just say I agree with you.

I’ll be by to check out your similar post. BTW, I’m feeling almost 100% which is good thing. Perhaps I’ll be back in top form within a few days. Still haven’t found that inspiration to post anything new. As a friend of mine would say “I’ll get to it when I get to it!” Time will tell, yes? LMAO!

We’ll see you on a return flight. Blessings to you and the family.

  23. Hey Hawk if you still chilling come and see my lunar eclipse photos, lol, just trying to keep the conversation going, lol. Relaxing and chilling is good for you btw. Anna :)

  24. Anna, thanks for the nudge to visit. As I mentioned during my visit yesterday, your shots of the Lunar Eclipse are truly spectacular. See you soon…

  25. I’ve got to give him props for being optimistic. However, after taking a class on the French Revolution, and seeing all the optimism that proceeded that nightmare, I am a bit skeptical!

  26. Octavian, what the hell have you been smoking?!

Should we follow your line of thinking, I guess we could include the Spanish-American War, our own civil conflict during Lincoln’s administration and the American Revolutionary War. We could add to the list Vietnam, Korea, WWI and II, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Crusades, the battle of Jericho and Star Wars to name several.

    Good to see you around.
